Bald Man Brewing

An impromptu visit to Bald Man Brewing found us in a nice space with a comfortable vibe including a large garage door that leads out to a sunny patio.  I kind of wish they had some larger tables but that’s a quibble as I’m here for the beer not the tables. With that said, we went for the full flight as listed here:
  • Heart of Glass Blond - fruity, malt, light, hint of hops 6.9
  • Honey hush kolsch - light, bright, smooth, citrus 8
  • Tupelo Honey brown ale - sweet, musty, wants to be a Belgian 4.8
  • Penny Lane ESP - coffee like bitterness, vaguely beery, not much else 6
  • Dark Side of the Moon Porter - roasted caramel, rich an creamy, sweet and warming, develops over time 7.5
  • Young American pale ale - balanced hops and malt, refreshing, long finish 7.8
  • Misty Mountain Hops IPA - confused look on my face 3.9
  • Purple Haze bro - hoppy grapefruit, not too harsh, balanced 8.5

A decent place that I would visit if in the neighborhood but probably wouldn’t go out of my way.

Took a little detour on our Saturday errands for a visit to Pryes Brewing to sample their offerings and enjoy a snack. Pryes is cool in that it isn't letting itself be limited by what food trucks can handle in the usual "parked outside" format. They have a full kitchen and are giving people a chance to come in and "take over". Better service, quicker food, warmer seating, and a more casual environment are the natural result.

Current offering as of this post come from the 7th Street Taco Truck. We had one each of the flour shell taco one with Beef Barbacoa and one with the Tinga de Pollo. Both were excellent.

We did their great flight by the glass offering. You just order what you want instead of having to fill a board or rack. We tried the:

  • Dublin Dry Stout Cask - 4.5% ABV
  • Barleywine - 9.0% ABV

  • Miraculum with Grapefruit - 6.4% ABV

  • British Pub Ale - 4.1% ABV

All were tasty, but the Barleywine and the and the Pub Ales were the standouts for us.
